Hi All,

Us admins have been thinking for a while that it'd be nice if we could communicate better with everyone. Talk pages are nice, but they're not as nice as having our very own forum. So we'll be trialling various pieces of add-on software to MediaWiki, and if they end up working well, we'll keep them around. This means that any discussions had in here might disappear when we change things, but I'll try to avoid that happening.

So, go forth and post any questions or comments you have in here and we'll see how well it works!

Cheers,

Rob

I apologize if I've posted this in the wrong spot, Web 2.0 and I don't know each other very well. Please point me in the right direction if I'm missing something.

I'm going to work on the Questions and Emails section Episode 362. Should I leave the posted email as is it was written or add podcast commentary to it? If I did add commentary, would I insert it inside the email text? Like this: Emailtext emailtext (S: Comment comment comment) emailtext emailtext...  ? Or Emailtext emailtext /blockquote S: Comment comment blockquote emailtext...  ? Also, is it important to illustrate in the text what parts of the email were read aloud? Steve read all but the last sentence of this one but I know that some of them are summarized and/or heavily redacted.

Hi there! Sorry I missed this, unfortunately this forum software doesn't have email notifications, something I'm working on.

I normally make it so that the email text matches what was read out on the podcast. If people want the full text of the email they can always go back to the notes page for the podcast. So I normally break it up into bits, so like:

(blockquote)email text blah blah(/blockquote)

S: some comment blah

(blockquote)some more email text blah(/blockquote)

etc. Sometimes it might be better to just use inline quoting if there's a lot of interjetion, like:

S: the email reads "blah blah email text" and I think that is interesting. He continues, "blah more email".
